Artists

Este Mostert

Este Mostert

From a very young age Este showed an interest for fine arts. This inspired her to study formally under Casper Steenkamp, Ben Botha and Prof A.A.F Treurlinckt at the University of the Free State. Her career developed from her desire to express her creative abilities. She paints her dream world , giving expression to her views and beliefs. The images in her art is how she sees the world and the characters that live in her imagination.  Este held her first solo exhibition in 1981. This was the beginning of many national and international exhibitions.

Impressionism means the total impression of the eye and soul, a fleeting instant in time which is caught on canvas, the atmosphere, the movement, the colour and the light. This is what Este strives for in her work.  Este now works in oils, acrylics and glaze. Her work reflects a shared experience of that which lies beyond reality. She paints romantic dream worlds, she uses diverse media to express herself. Her technique is a happy fusion of impressionism and contemporary paint applications. She makes no attempt to comment or reflect on social trends and values. Este’s work can be found in many collections all over South Africa, Namibia and she also exhibited in Taipei, USA.

Annette Dannhauser

Annette Dannhauser

Annette Dannhauser was born in Delareyville on 24th March, 1962 and now lives in the picturesque Free State Town of Parys with her husband Jannie and four daughters. She runs her own gallery (the White House Gallery) in town, where she is the resident artist. The gallery also serves as her studio. She works in mixed mediums (acrylics, oils, pastels, charcoals) and loves using a lot of texture on the canvases with vibrant warm colours. She is a firm believer in the lighter side of life and tries to convey this fun element in her work! Her motto is: “do not be scared of colour and the use of colour! It’s only paint and you can always change it!” She also paints under the name Phia which comes from her christening name Anna Sophia. These are usually smaller “expressionistic style” paintings, done in oil on canvas.

Isabel le Roux

Isabel le Roux

Isabel le Roux was born in Rustenburg, North West Province, South Africa. She is one of the most prolific artists in South Africa. Isabel has been painting professionally since 1974 and has held more than 50 solo exhibitions locally as well as overseas. Her works are included in the collections of numerous corporations and are sought after by art galleries, art dealers and private investors.

The first impression of her art is vibrancy. The courageous use of color adds to the expressionistic quality of emotion and feeling. She paints life and creates her paintings in the journey of her own life. She is well known for her typical South African scenes, especially those from the Cape, but her travels abroad bring a new dimension to her work.
